8-DAYS LEMOSHO ROUTE CLIMB

Day 0: Arrival – Arusha

  • Pickup from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

  • Transfer to Summit Lodge Arusha

  • Pre-climb briefing and gear check

  • Overnight at Summit Lodge (BB)

Day 1: Arusha – Lemosho Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)

  • Drive to Lemosho Gate (~3–4 hrs)

  • Trek through rainforest to camp

  • Distance: 6 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs

  • Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

  • Climb into the heather and moorland zone

  • Stunning views across the Shira Plateau

  • Overnight: Shira 1 Camp

Day 3: Shira 1 – Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

  • Gentle trek across the plateau

  • Acclimatization continues

  • Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

Day 4: Shira 2 – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp (3,976m)

  • Acclimatization hike via Lava Tower (4,630m)

  • Descend to Barranco Valley

  • Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 6–7 hrs

  • Overnight: Barranco Camp

Day 5: Barranco – Karanga Camp (4,035m)

  • Climb the Barranco Wall

  • Short scenic hike to Karanga Valley

  • Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 6: Karanga – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

  • Steady climb to base camp

  • Early dinner and rest before summit push

  • Overnight: Barafu Camp

Day 7: Barafu – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,068m)

  • Midnight summit push to Uhuru Peak

  • Descend to Mweka Camp for rest

  • Distance: ~17 km | Hiking Time: 12–14 hrs

  • Overnight: Mweka Camp

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha

  • Final descent through rainforest

  • Collect summit certificates at the gate

  • Transfer back to Arusha for overnight or airport drop-off

  • Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs
