Mount Meru
Often overshadowed by its neighbor Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru is a majestic volcano that offers equally rewarding trekking and unmatched wildlife encounters. Standing at 4,566 meters, it provides panoramic views of Arusha National Park, lush forests, waterfalls, and the iconic silhouette of Kilimanjaro from its peak. The trek begins within the park, where you may spot giraffes, buffaloes, and monkeys before ascending into moorlands and alpine zones.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru is less crowded, making it ideal for trekkers seeking a quieter, more intimate climb. The route includes overnight stays in mountain huts and guided treks led by armed park rangers for safety, as the lower trails are home to wildlife.
